Barefoot, Bonfires and Barbeques.   The weekend getaway wedding

Are you looking for a different approach to your wedding?   Killington Vermont, has a lot to offer.   A great place to think about getting married at is mountainmeadowslodge  Bill & Anne Mercier has a unique approach to hosting your event.   What I loved about Mountain Meadows Lodge was they treat your wedding like a mini-getaway.   They shift the focus from the wedding being all about one day to more of a whole weekend.   Does the idea of barefoot, bonfires and barbeque appeal to you?  The idea is to come on Thursday and enjoy the place with your friends and family,  almost like a family reunion.     Your friends and family spend the weekend enjoying the lake, fishing, kayaking, and boating.   Volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, can also keep you busy.  You don’t want to forget the hot-tub, sauna, pool, and game-room. Of course the free roaming farm animals always add an element of Vermont charm!   Of course when I was there it was winter, but it is gorgeous even under all the snow!

This is where the lake is, Right now it looks like a field of snow, but it is actually a lake!

One can sit around an enjoy the lake!

Winter Activities,   Snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing

I got there just in time for the animals feeding!
The Barn

Some of the Animals on the farm.   There are 4 0r 5 sheep, Carlie is the baby goat, Molly is the old Goat, and the mascot at the farm is Alice the pot bellied pig!

Charlie the Goat!   Charlie is still a baby!   Here he is waiting for dinner!   How cute is he?

Alice the Pot Bellied Pig!   Alice is the Star at Mountain Meadows Lodge.   Alice has been there since she was a baby!    Can you imagine that Alice weighs 160 pounds  ( I think,   I am terriable with numbers, so someone let me know if that is wrong!)

Now lets get to some pictures of the inside. We will start with some of the pictures of the bridal suite, so you can start invisioning what it would be like to be getting ready to get married here!Beautiful, yet elegant country charm!

Some of your guest rooms

all the rooms have their own bathroom (Makes a big difference in terms of being comfortable!)

What others are saying!

And I am not the only one writing about Mountain Meadow Lodge, this couple has written about their experience hiking, the Appalachian trail, falling in-love, and their own wedding at MML in their Appalachian Trail Journal In addition to Mountain Meadow Lodge, Killington has more to offer to a bride.   There is also a great network of local businesses and vendors available.  Greenbrier Inn, is right down the street and can easily and comfortably accommodate any additional guests from your wedding, in the event you have more guest then MML has rooms for.   Greenbrier Inn, a modern yet country style inn, also has a fantastic store, which is a dangerous place to go into with your credit card!    I LOVED everything in there.   I am going to start with some pictures from this AMAZING store, then I will add some pictures of the inn.

The also have a bridal registry! (Why didn’t I know this before I got married!)

And some pictures of the inn.
I wish I had these decorating skills!

Then of course, Hair, make-up and massages! Every bride needs that! For hair and make-up their is a salon,
mountain cuts salon.I didn’t get to make it to the salon, so I took a picture of a picture! This will give you some sense of what the salon is like

Services at the salon range from hair, nails, tanning, waxing, makeup application, facials and body treatments. I always like to find out what their favoirte treatment is. In this case, the pedicure throne!I also met the nicest massage therapist, Petra O’Neil. Here is her room that she decorated like a garden. She has her own massage room right at Mountain Medows Lodge, which is so convient!

For me, there is nothing better in life then a great massage! I would probably get a massage every week if I could! So you know I was checking out the menu!

and Petra’s favorite!

Being a wedding photographer it is always interesting to meet anouther wedding photographer. I was introduced to Barb Wood.Barb has a really warm personality, spending time meeting her was so pleasant, and I learned a few tricks. I asked Barb to send me some of her photographs. This picture here, I think I almost flipped when I saw this! But she taught me her trick (Put the grain where you want the animals to be, if they are eating, they are not going anywhere!) Brilliant!

with the Applicain Trail right there, many of the couples getting married found MML while hiking!

Barb is also familiar with the local landscape, she knows where the waterfalls and cascades are

Could we asks the ducks to pose perfectly for every picture we want to take?

This couple was going to be married outside, no matter what!
Now a Vermont wedding would not be complete without Ben and Jerry’sSo I got to meet with Sarah De Candio who owns a
Ben and Jerry’s Ice Creamshop right in Rutland. I was really wishing my husband Pete, who also owns an icecream (way to far from Killington to deliever an icecream cake too without it becoming soup!) was with me. I am sure that he and Sarah would have had a lot to talk about.

Here is just a little one we were eating - yum!

Of course being Ben and Jerry’s your wedding cake can come in all sorts of crazy sizes and flavors. Sarah said the most unusual cake she has made so far has been a basketball. And the most popular cake, (besides the traditional ones) is cow cakes!

Picking out flowers from far away seemed like it would be difficult to me, but Bonnie Hawley, from
Hawley’s Floristhas the experiance and expertise to make choosing your wedding flowers a fun and easy experiance from anywhere!Bonnie has known since the time she was a child that she wanted to be a florist, and has been in the business for 30 years. Bonnie takes the time to find out what brides are truely thinking of in terms of their flowers, and by exchaning emails and pictures and phone calls, together they can create beautiful floral arrangements from anywhere! Her newest venture is the creation of Viewmont FarmI like asking what is popular, Bonnie said that most brides having Vermont Weddings are looking to use local and seasonal flowers. One unique idea one of her brides was having her use Peacock feathers in her design! I never would have thought of peacock feathers!

I’ve got to say, after spending a few days in Killington, I think I was wishing I had had my wedding here! If you are considering a destination wedding, you have to consider Killington. The beauty, and relaxed feeling creates a real calm within that everyone mentioned. As I was leaving after the two days I could really understand the “calm” everyone discribed.

Hi Kim! Can’t belive it was winter when you were in VT and now it seems like summer. Sorry I didn’t write sooner. You did a wonderful job reporting your trip to Killington. It was a pleasure to meet you. Keep up the great work. Brides are appreciating all this I’m sure.
    Thanks.
